Participants FAQs

How can you help me?

HYPAR Mentors can work with you towards your NDIS & personal goals, such as learning independent life skills and/or getting more involved in community activities.

How long will you help me?

For as long as you would like to access our services and achieve your goals.

Will you tell anyone that I am working with you?

Your privacy is important to us. We can share this information if you would like us to, but the only people who require this information would be your guardians (if under 18 years of age) or your Supports Coordinator.

Does it cost money?

You can use your NDIS funds to pay for our service.

What do I need to do to get started?

To get started, all you need to do is give us a call or send us a message via our contact form. If you would find it easier your Supports Coordinator can contact us on your behalf.

How am I placed with a Mentor? Do I have a choice?

Of course! We want to make sure you are happy with the Mentor you are placed with and will work to find someone that best suits your needs, age and interests.

Can you help me with daily living tasks?

Yes. Mentors are there to help you achieve any day-to-day tasks that will assist you in your daily life.

Can you help me engage with the community and my interests?

Yes. HYPAR Mentors actively strive to engage with you in the community and help you explore your interests.

What activities are available?

Almost anything! You may decide that you want support to go to the shops or the movies, or in pursuing other interests like fishing, biking, sports, and accessing social clubs, these are all activities we can assist with.

If you have a thirst for adventure, head to our outdoor mentorship service HYPAR Wild, where we provide outdoor adventure activities for NDIS participants and Outdoor Enthusiasts. Activities include kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing, abseiling, mountain biking, bush walking and camping to name a few.

Can you help me find accommodation?
 

Yes. If you need help accessing accommodation services or securing a rental, HYPAR Mentors are there. We also offer SIL, STA and Respite services to suit your NDIS needs.

Are your services available to females?

HYPAR provides a male-to-male service only at this time, but we can refer you to suitable services based on your requirements. If you are looking to achieve your NDIS goals in an outdoor environment, check out our HYPAR Wild service which caters to all genders and can be tailored to suit your NDIS needs.

Parents & Care Givers FAQs

What supports are available?

HYPAR has a range of tailored supports available to meet the needs of each participant. We currently operate across three core service areas, Mentoring/Disability Support, Supported Independent Living (SIL) and STA/Respite services.

I’ve tried a lot of services, how are you different?

Here at HYPAR, we strive to provide tailored support solutions for participants and their Parents/ Guardians. Under the Mentoring model, we work with our participants to achieve positive behavioural changes and help to develop life skills to set them up for success. Most importantly, we are not just support workers! Our Mentors are carefully picked and specialise in building meaningful relationships to provide constructive and effective support to participants and their Parents/ Guardian.

What age do you have to be to access the service?

We assess on a case by case basis with the majority of our participants falling between ages 6 – 35 years.

What areas do you operate in?

Brisbane and the Greater Brisbane region and the Sunshine Coast.

How long will you help for?

As long as the participant requires support, we can help. We work with the participant to achieve their goals. Once those are achieved, we can set new ones or scale down supports.

What are your hours of support? Can you help with out of hours support and school pick-ups?

We have a minimum of 3 hour shifts but work around the clock and can provide mentors to fit the participants schedule, from early mornings to getting ready for school or work, through to late evening supports.

What is the NDIS? Are you an NDIS provider?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is Australia’s first national Scheme for people with disability. It provides funding directly to individuals, offering choice and control over how, when and where their supports are provided.

HYPAR is a registered NDIS provider, meaning NDIS participants can utilise their plans and funds to access our services.

How can we access the service?

Give us a call or use the contact form to get in touch. Or if you prefer, the participants Supports Coordinator can contact us on your behalf.

How is our information kept confidential?

HYPAR adheres to and upholds all legal and lawful privacy obligations and will only share your information where legally obliged to do so or at your request.

How are participants placed with Mentors?

We carefully select our Mentors based on participant and Parent/Guardian preferences. We take into account the participants age, needs, goals, interests, culture and location and pair them with a Mentor best suited to them.

What disabilities do you cater for?

We offer supports for a variety of disabilities, mainly focusing on psychosocial disabilities and mental health such as Acquired Brain Injury, Anxiety and Stress Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Late Development, Intellectual Impairment and Learning disabilities.

Can you help participants with daily living tasks?

Yes. Mentors are there to help participants achieve any day-to-day tasks that will assist in their daily life.

Can you help participants engage with the community and pursue their interests?

Yes, HYPAR Mentors work with participants to re-engage or further engage them in the community and enable them to explore current interests or find new ones.

Are you an NDIS provider?

Yes, we are a registered NDIS provider.

What are the fees? What are categories billed under?

All prices for our services are in-line with NDIS pricing. Categories are client dependent and it’s best to contact us to determine how we can best support.

Do you have eligibility criteria?

We assess clients individually to determine if we can support them in their area and with their schedule. We specialise in psychosocial disabilities and mental health but it’s best to contact us to discuss in more detail the support you are looking for.
