HYPAR RESIDENTIAL CARE FAQs
Young People FAQs
Where will I live?
We have houses all across the Brisbane region. Before you come into care with us, you will find out your address. Your house will be staffed with Youth Workers who will care for you and ensure your needs are met.
Who will I live with?
You might live with another young person or by yourself for a short period. If you live with someone else, we will give you some information about them before you move in and tell them about you too.
What do we do every day?
That depends on you! We will help you get to school, meet your friends, see your family, or access things like swimming spots, parks, or shopping centres.
Can I still go to the same school?
We will help you to stay in the same school by transporting you there and back each day.
Can I still play sports?
Yes! All of our Youth Workers love taking young people to play sports and will help support your interests.
Who can I talk to about my worries?
You will have a Lead Mentor who will spend most of their working time with you. They are the best to speak to, but you can also speak to any other Mentor, Lead Mentor or Manager, your CSO or the Community Visitor.
How can you help me?
We will help you in any way needed. We can support, advocate and care for you. We will buy you clothes, keep you fed, encourage education, and spend time hanging out with you. If you need some specific help—just ask!
How long will you help me?
You can stay with HRC until you turn 18. Before this happens, we will help you to build life skills so that you can transition to independent living.

Yes. HYPAR Mentors actively strive to engage with you in the community and help you explore your interests.

Since then, we have increased our service offerings to include a “Co-Res” program that accepts all genders whilst still maintaining the integrity of our ‘Male-to-Male’ program. Both programs offer specialised supports and mentors that best cater to the young people’s needs.
Parents & Care Givers FAQs
Where will my child live?
We have houses all across the Greater Brisbane region. Speak with your child’s Child Safety Officer if you would like to request the address.
Who can I talk to if I have worries?
You can speak with the CSO, your child’s Lead Mentor, or their House Manager. You can also request to speak with the Program Manager at any time.
Can I visit the house?
This depends—check with your child’s CSO if you would like to arrange this.
Can they see their friends?
As long as there is no reason to prohibit this, our staff will facilitate contact with friends.
What happens on a daily basis in the house?
Like many households, we have a routine. We help young people get ready for school, help with chores and homework, take them to activities, and prepare their meals.
How will they be financially supported?
The Department will fund the placement. We provide young people in our care with the opportunity to earn pocket money, activity money, and a takeaway night each week.
What happens when my child turns 18?
They will be transitioned out of care. This plan will begin once they turn 16 and will involve all of the stakeholders in your child’s life.
Can I share information about my child, like their interests and likes and dislikes?
We would love that—we want your child to feel safe, secure, and valued, and knowing this goes a long way in helping feel this way.
Will I get updates on how my child is doing?
In most cases, you will, however, sometimes this will go through the CSO.
